New Cover Higher Consciousness

Here is the new cover design I created on Canva for my latest book, Yamas and Niyamas of Higher Consciousness, available on Amazon.ca for $17.28 CDN. The content is identical to the previous cover, so the outward look is in step with some designer’s comments on marketing to a wider audience. The Kindle version, $4.28 CDN, or free for Kindle Direct subscribers also has this cover.

I would like to thank all customers for their ongoing support.

In the Depths of Anxiety

Overcoming Anxiety: Share this with Friends by Robert Owens

When we experience anxiety and seek help, some well-meaning, sincere person will ask something like, “What’s your problem?”

Our problem is, when we are overcome with anxiety we often don’t know for sure what the problem is, and even have trouble describing what we are feeling. Our friends who think they know what anxiety is (see green/yellow illustration) will advise us to “Just relax, take some deep breaths.” When that doesn’t work to allay our anxiety we can become even more anxious. The reality is, anxiety is a cluster of symptoms, as unique to each individual as our hair colour or fingerprints.

This coloured list is by no means an attempt to trivialize anxiety, but to reassure the sufferer that your symptoms are real, are felt, and can be dealt with. Just as we see there many symptoms, there often are multiple causes, sometimes at an unconscious level beneath our awareness. Professional helpers have enormous caseloads with long waiting lines because untreated anxiety is common. Don’t let your pride or confusion delay treatment. For recovered sufferers, regular maintenance of good well-being is essential to avoid emergency treatment that often is short lasting and does not solve the root(s) of anxiety.

Robert’s latest psycho-spiritual book published Feb 14 2025

I am grateful to be able to offer my latest illustrated book, Yamas and Niyamas of Higher Consciousness – How to Seize Ownership of Your Life’s Destiny, on amazon.com $17.07 CDN $12.95 USD Kindle coming soon.

Unlike most other authors of “yamas and niyamas” books, who concentrate only on aspects of physical yoga, there is no requirement for readers to know or practice anything physical to benefit abundantly from life lessons told in the book.

“Robert’s lived experience as yoga and Theravada meditation teacher/trainer, martial and visual artist, theologian, and accredited psychology practice, he knows the frustration of trying to take up Eastern philosophy. This lived experience of teaching gives him a good position to write and paint his psycho-spiritual knowledge for the reader.”

Included in each chapter are mindful practices common to yoga combined with martial arts of karate, Tai Chi, ideologies of Taoism, Buddhism, as well as insights from African, Australian, and American Indigenous traditions.

Because I am a life-part of each of these concepts, I am able to decorate lessons from history in words and art, then breath them to higher life with dramatic folklore stories, woven into modern urban examples.

Easy to read, only 103 pages, all foreign terms explained in plain English.

Easy to understand, all concepts related to examples in modern living.

Easy to live by, no physical exercise required. Each chapter ends with experiments you can do yourself, or use as guides for group discussion.

With over 20 original watercolors, Yamas and Niyamas of Higher Consciousness makes it easy to understand spiritual psychology, and to apply it in your everyday life.
